Make Your Old IT Truly Valuable
Krommenhoek Metals is a friend of the Sophia Children’s Hospital. Although the government and health insurers contribute significantly to the funding of treatments, additional resources are desperately needed. Every year, the hospital requires a large amount in donations. These funds are used to purchase new equipment and develop departments where children with rare conditions can be treated.
At Krommenhoek, we refurbish and recycle old IT hardware, ensuring that all data is destroyed in a certified manner. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if your decommissioned hardware could become truly valuable again by donating its residual value to the Sophia Children’s Hospital?
How does it work?
We’ll send you a quote based on a list of the hardware you’d like us to pick up. It will show you exactly what everything is worth. For very old hardware that no longer has a market value, you’ll receive a price per kilogram. We purchase reusable hardware at per-unit prices. Finally, you’ll receive an invoice that lists exactly what you have delivered. You can then choose to donate all or part of the invoice amount. Donations made through our campaign page will be matched by Krommenhoek with an additional 10%!

The Best Destruction with a Social Twist
Data destruction is our top priority and the first step in our process. It is possible to have reusable hard drives wiped in a certified manner. We do this using WipeDrive software. In addition, we have our own hard drive shredder. This shreds hard drives into small particles measuring just a few millimeters. For every hard drive we shred, we donate €0.10 to the Sophia Children’s Hospital as standard.

There are so many charitable organizations, and they’re all important. We couldn’t agree more! So why do we at Krommenhoek Metals have a special place in our hearts for the Sophia Children’s Hospital? Because their work has a significant and tangible impact.
A child should be able to lead a carefree life. And for children who are a little less fortunate at this stage in their lives, donations are incredibly important. The Sophia Children’s Hospital cares for children who are the sickest or who have a rare condition.
What are the donations used for?
A hospital visit can be very nerve-wracking, both for children and their parents or caregivers. At Sophia, we do everything we can to make the hospital visit as pleasant as possible—with minimal stress, anxiety, or pain. Thanks to the support of our donors, Sophia has been able to fund a number of wonderful projects that help achieve this, including:
- Use of Virtual Reality
Children put on VR goggles, which allow them to choose from various virtual experiences. These can be anything from visiting a major city to swimming with dolphins or playing a game. As a result, the child doesn’t see what’s happening in real life. This helps tremendously, for example, during an injection. It reduces anxiety and also makes the pain feel less intense.

- Development of the KinderPijn App
Three-quarters of children are not pain-free on the first day after surgery. In fact, 40% experience moderate to severe pain. The KinderPijn App helps manage pain in children and effectively treat it.
- Qwiek Ups
The Qwiek-up is a projector that can be set up in any room. Stunning, life-size images appear on the ceiling or wall, complete with sound. Imagine a clear starry sky, an aquarium filled with tropical fish, or a stroll through the zoo. The Qwiek-up helps distract children, entertain them, and regulate their sensory input.
