How much does it cost to destroy hard drives?

The destruction of hard drives and other data storage devices is a paid service. Unlike with scrap metal, this does not generate any revenue; instead, you will receive an invoice. We do not have a minimum batch size, but we do have a minimum invoice amount of €250, excluding VAT and shipping costs. If you submit a single drive, the same amount applies.

For larger orders, we determine a customized price based on the type of data storage medium, the quantity, and whether on-site destruction is required. Request a quote so you’ll know exactly what to expect in advance.

Everything You Need to Know About Hard Drive Destruction

Why destroy a hard drive?

Old hard drives often contain sensitive information such as customer data, financial documents, or login credentials. Even if you’ve deleted files or formatted the drive, this data can easily be recovered with the right software. Destroying a hard drive is therefore the only truly secure way to prevent data breaches and misuse of information.

In addition, as an organization, you are legally required to properly protect personal data and securely dispose of it in accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). By having your hard drive professionally destroyed by KH Metals, you can avoid legal risks and reputational damage.

With us, you’re guaranteed complete physical destruction—including a certificate of destruction as proof. That way, you can be sure that all data is gone for good.

How to Have Your Hard Drives Safely Destroyed

At Krommenhoek Metals, data destruction is a business service. This means you don’t simply drop off hard drives at the counter; we schedule the process with you in advance. Upon request, we physically destroy the drives before they enter the recycling process. For business customers, we provide a Certificate of Destruction with serial numbers, ensuring your compliance with the GDPR.

For larger volumes, we’ll come by with a sealed container and document the chain of custody from pickup to destruction. If the data can’t leave the premises, our mobile shredder will come to your business site.
