Krommenhoek Metals Raises Over €10,000 for Sophia Children's Hospital

On March 7, 8, and 9, 2025, the 34th edition of “Cycling for Sophia” took place—the annual spinning marathon that raises funds for the Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s Hospital. This year, the event focused on raising money for children with heart defects. No fewer than 156 teams and more than 2,000 participants dedicated themselves to this wonderful cause. In total, an impressive €802,125 was raised during the event!

Sixteen enthusiastic colleagues from Krommenhoek Metals and our sister company Whale Recycling hopped on their bikes to work up a sweat for this wonderful initiative. And it was a success!
Thanks to the tremendous dedication of our team and the generosity of our customers, friends, and family , we raised a whopping €10,045! This fantastic amount was raised through 110 donations —a truly wonderful result we’re incredibly proud of. A complete overview of all donations can be found on our campaign page.

The atmosphere during the event was fantastic: music, cheers, and a healthy dose of perseverance helped everyone give it their all. For hours, people cycled, sweated, and laughed, all with one goal in mind: to raise as much money as possible to support the care and treatment of sick children at the Sophia Children’s Hospital.

We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this wonderful result: our colleagues who gave it their all in the saddle, as well as all the customers, friends, and family members who supported us with their donations. Together, we’ve shown that the metal industry isn’t just about materials—it’s also about social responsibility and a warm heart for charitable causes.
