Krommenhoek Metals is expanding its international supply chain

The metals sector plays a key role in further advancing sustainability. In addition, attention must be paid to human and labor rights. As experts in the recycling of scrap metal, we at Krommenhoek Metals fully understand the importance of this. Not only that, but we also actively implement policies to this end. This is evident from the following, among other things:

• The company is part of the International CSR Agreement for the Metal Sector.
• There is a clear vision for CO2 policy.
• Krommenhoek Metals is a signatory to a covenant addressing potential risks in the supply chain.
• Our circular vision is embedded in our strategy.

On the positive side, there are also plenty of opportunities in the sector: recycling and upcycling steel offer many possibilities. Moreover, metals are crucial for sustainable energy generation—for example, in the production of solar panels and wind turbines.

Krommenhoek Metals conducted an extensive study in collaboration with the consulting firm Rainbow Collection. The study identified the most significant (safety) risks throughout our entire international supply chain. The entire process was thorough yet efficient. Among other things, it led to the selection of a pilot region in collaboration with a new partner.

These are positive developments, but we realize that more needs to be done. That is why we have decided to expand the research in collaboration with a supply chain partner. This does, however, require due caution and attention, as the topic remains a sensitive one for some partners.
