Our CO2 Policy
Krommenhoek Metals holds a prominent position in the recycling sector. This presents opportunities to assess the relative reduction in emissions across the supply chain—for example, by comparing the processing of secondary metals with the production of primary metals.
We started with our most direct impact: Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions (equivalents). The first step was to map out and analyze our consumption and the associated emissions. Based on that, we set (reduction) targets:
- 49% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030
- A 7.5% reduction in Scope 1 emissions by 2025.
Krommenhoek Metals views CO2 reduction as a key objective of our sustainability policy. To further develop this policy, we have entered into a collaboration with our partner, the Foundation for Climate-Friendly Procurement and Business (SKAO), and we are certified at Level 3 of the CO2 Performance Ladder. In accordance with Level 3 of the CO2 Performance Ladder, an energy management program has been developed to achieve these objectives. This and other documentation regarding our carbon footprint and communication plan can be found below.
