New weighbridge: Krommenhoek Metals’ latest investment
After Krommenhoek Metals recently purchased a newScania truckand a Nissan forklift, and automated its entire weighing and point-of-sale system, it was time for a new weighbridge in the last week of September.
The old weighbridge has served faithfully since 1963 and has always been accurate during the (nearly) 50 years it has been in operation. In early September, however, the weighbridge finally gave out and its steel support beams collapsed under the weight of a heavy load of iron. As a result, it was decided to immediately purchase a heavier-duty weighbridge fromPfister Weighing Technology. The weighbridge is made entirely of concrete, has a weighing capacity of 50 metric tons, and is equipped with a weighing display on the weighmaster’s side in the office, as well as a weighing display located on the counter on the customer’s side.
The first trucks have already driven over the weighbridge to weigh incoming and outgoing shipments of scrap iron and scrap metal. We hope that, together with our customers, we will be able to enjoy the benefits and convenience this weighbridge has to offer.
