Copper-nickel scrap
Copper-nickel scrap may be Monel scrap. However, Monel contains more nickel than copper. Cupro or Cunifer refers to an alloy of copper and nickel, in which there is more copper than nickel. In addition, strengthening elements such as iron and manganese are added to the alloy. This material is widely used in copper-nickel heat exchangers. It is also used as a condenser in seawater systems, the petrochemical industry, and the marine industry. There are many different copper-nickel alloys, but the copper content typically ranges from 70% to 90%. The value of copper-nickel scrap (copper-nickel price) depends on the current nickel/copper exchange rate and supply and demand.

Where does copper-nickel scrap come from?
Copper-nickel scrap is primarily generated when replacing or dismantling systems in which this alloy is used. Examples include heat exchangers, condensers, and piping systems used in maritime installations or industrial applications.
Due to its excellent resistance to corrosion and seawater, copper-nickel is often used in shipbuilding, offshore installations, and cooling water systems. When these installations are replaced or overhauled, copper-nickel scrap that is suitable for recycling is regularly generated.
The machining of copper-nickel parts also produces waste materials such as turnings and chips. These waste materials still contain valuable metals and are therefore often collected separately.
