Krommenhoek Metals B.V. is working to ensure responsible metal supply chains

Krommenhoek Metals is proud to inform all its customers, suppliers, and business partners that we are actively collaborating with various organizations to promote corporate social responsibility on an international level and to address serious negative impacts on people and the environment linked to the metals supply chain. It would be impossible for us to address these impacts on our own. This multi-stakeholder collaboration takes place through theInternational CSR Pact for the Metal Sector, which also enables us to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Other participating organizations include companies, government agencies, industry associations, nongovernmental organizations, and labor unions.

’s CO2 Policy Krommenhoek has specialized in metal recycling since 1925. Our mission is to uphold the “Service in Scrap” slogan in everything we do. In this way, we optimize metal recycling streams from industrial and manufacturing companies, transforming them into high-quality secondary raw materials for foundries throughout Europe and far beyond. Thanks to our efforts, fewer primary raw materials need to be extracted from the earth through mining. In addition, the recycling of scrap metal contributes to a global reduction of no less than 500 million metric tons of CO₂ emissions.

Agreement Not all collected metal scraps can be sent directly to smelters. Sometimes, the metals require further processing before they can be recycled optimally. These activities are carried out mechanically or manually in low-wage countries outside Europe.

Metals are essential for the production of various goods and technologies and are crucial for the transition to clean and sustainable energy. The implementation of the agreement will focus on:

• companies by providing them with the necessary knowledge, instruments, and other resources and/or tools so that they are able to understand and address potential risks in their supply chain (from mining to recycling).
• Identifying and addressing potential risks in the supply chain for secondary raw materials (scrap metal).
• encourage relevant actors in the metals supply chain (at the national and international levels) to respect and act in accordance with theOECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprisesand theUN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Impact Report
Krommenhoek Metals publishes an annual impact report detailing its progress in the area of sustainability. In 2022, Krommenhoek Metals published its first Impact Report covering the previous year. The most recent version includes a comprehensive description of how our circular vision is embedded in a renewed strategy.
